Having sought a number of quotes from various builders, we chose Dean and his team from D.Bickerton Ltd. We had various discussions and agreed on the scope of works and a start date.

From the start of the project, it was obvious that Dean and his team worked in a very professional manner and given the size of the initial excavation and foundation construction for the extension, work progressed at a suitable pace. I am fairly experienced in construction projects myself through work but you only realise when you are ‘living’ through one yourself, there are so many different tasks that need to be completed in order to enable you to move onto the next task. During all works, Dean and I had regular update meetings to discuss any issues and agree on changes or finer details of each area. Once the extension was built, work commenced on the internal reconfiguration. All works, new build and reorganisation work have been carried out to the highest standard and we are truly pleased with the end results. Nothing was too much trouble and every silly question from me was answered honestly. Once the last snagging had been resolved, we settled the final stage invoice and the extra/overs that we had discussed and agreed clearly as the build went along.

Dean and his team have done a very professional job and you can see the attention to detail. When disturbing some existing parts of the house and roof, the team would go the ‘extra mile’ to ensure the original parts are maintained or modified to suit up to date building requirements, ensuring no nasty surprises as a consequence of disturbing the existing structure.

“Dean Bickerton and his team undertook a complete room renovation for me. This involved knocking down and bricking up walls, replacement of ceiling, electrical work, roofing, bricklaying and plumbing. On top of this, I live in an old property which required sympathetic treatment. I had around 5 quotes for the work and Dean’s sat fairly in the middle. However, it was on Dean’s visit out to quote that I was immediately impressed with his professional approach and knowledge. He was asking questions that none of the others had asked and despite having thought the job through and having made a comprehensive list of everything that needed doing, his expert eye brought other considerations in. This was really good because it made the quote all the more accurate, open and true and in the end the only extras I paid for were amendments I made along the way which Dean was flexible enough to accommodate. Dean came to me through recommendation via a friend of a friend; I did not know him before he worked for me but I can absolutely 100% recommend him too and do so without a moment’s hesitation. The work he has completed on my home has gone above and beyond the level that I was expecting. Every single one of his team completed their part in an expert and high quality way. They didn’t just get the job done, but showed really impressive craftsmanship, taking care over seemingly small details when needed, to ensure that the finished job is so beautifully carried out and something to be very proud of. They constantly blew me away with their eye to detail and the work they put in; they have preserved historical features that were already there and emulated them in the new building works completed. There was somebody on site every day and they never stopped. They all spoke to each other, to me and to neighbours with courtesy and respect and I felt totally comfortable having them in my home and leaving them when I had to go out. We first contacted Dean when we were looking to convert 2 cottages into 1 property. We provided him with detailed plans, electrical, lighting and plumbing schedule, and the initial quote was well detailed and accurate. The start date was as promised, and the project ran to time.
Due to the age and complexity of the old building there were a lot of unknown until the work started, Dean and his team did a great job of explaining changes as they happened and any extra work was costed and explained before being undertaken, so the whole process was transparent with no “surprises” at the finish.
Communication was excellent throughout and minor snagging was completed very efficiently. It should be noted that snagging was very insignificant, as the quality, attention to detail and overall workmanship was of a very high standard. The D Bickerton LTD team are a pleasure to work with and we would highly recommend them.

“When we decided to have an extension to the back of our house we had three quotes, one was very high and the other two were the same, we chose Dean because he was very pleasant and understood what we were aiming for and even suggested some improvement’s to our ideas. We booked him in and work commenced, he was at our house every day at 8 am and worked tirelessly to get the work completed come rain or shine and always with a smile. Explaining every night what they would be doing the following day. He made sure we had water available and that the heating could be switched on if we needed it through the night. The workmanship was excellent and we were very happy that we had chosen Dean and would have him doing any other work if we needed it, in fact he came back some month’s later and did all the fascia boards and soffit’s to fit in with the new ones.
